Black Muslims and Marriage

Islam teaches Black Muslims to respect the institution of Marriage and abide by its rules and regulations. Before a single Muslim Man or Woman gets married they should read up about marriage, what it entails and how the Prophet (S.A.W) practised this beautiful act. The problem these days is that Black Muslims and Muslims in general are just jumping into marry someone without properly assessing the situation.

Black Muslims in the United Kingdom

Islam teaches us that marriage is a contract between a single man (he can still be married) and a single woman who are sane and willing to take part in this union. Nikah is the word for Marriage in Islam, the Quran with the Sunnah of the Prophet (S.A.W) shows us how this should be practised in reality. Some conditions of the Marriage are that the man can marry up to 4 wives if he so chooses but must provide to relatively an equal degree to all his wives. A Muslim man is also required to give the bride a gift which is generally anything she requests but has to be reasonable enough that the man can provide. There’s no point asking for a Mansion if the man cannot afford this. Also Muslim Men are allowed to marry Jews and Christians since they’re considered to be “People of the Book” One of the major stumbling blocks for Muslims seeking Marriage in the UK is the financial aspects of the Marriage. Living in the United Kingdom is financially hard let alone having to provide for a wife and kids by yourself, especially since the wife is not obligated to work.
